3DEUS Dynamics and the EIC Accelerator: 3D-Printed Silicone
3DEUS Dynamics, founded in Villeurbanne near Lyon in 2020 and led by founder and CEO Julien Barthès, 3D-prints soft silicone parts with a process it calls Dynamic Molding. Its EIC application described "a new radical concept of Additive Manufacturing" in which liquid materials are dispensed into a controlled bed of powder, combining the advantages of injection moulding and 3D printing, with EIC money to "finalize the development for Silicone, extrapolate to other materials and accelerate the commercial development", according to CORDIS.
The European Innovation Council granted €2,500,000 towards a €4.16 million project from May 2023 to October 2025. The report sets the goal as "an advanced production environment that can manufacture a wide range of medical devices, from basic Class I devices to complex Class III implants". It records validated raw materials, biocompatibility and sterilisation tests, a second-generation industrial printer and ISO 13485 certification for making class I devices. It also says "the actual production line has yet to be constructed". In May 2024 the company closed a €10 million round backed by Elkem and the EIC Fund.

Where 3DEUS Dynamics Stands Now
The company sells standard and patient-specific anatomical models for health care, and silicone composites for fire protection, electromagnetic shielding and airframe parts in aeronautics and defence, according to its website. In March 2025 it announced a partnership with the Marie-Lannelongue hospital's innovation centre, MALIC, to build realistic vascular models for surgical training and device testing, as an alternative to animal models. The 2024 funding was meant to expand sales, industrialise production at a new head office in Rillieux-la-Pape and widen the range of materials.
The record
Silicone 3D printing heads for medical production
3DEUS Dynamics used EIC blended finance to prepare a medical-grade production environment for its Dynamic Molding silicone printing. It gained ISO 13485 certification and raised €10 million, but its report says the production line had not yet been built.

3DEUS Dynamics, report to the EICThe Technology: Printing Into Powder
Liquid silicone is deposited into a granular bed that holds it in place like a mould while it cures, which the company says combines the advantages of injection moulding and 3D printing. The company's second industrial printer, the 3DEUS Light V2, built with ATG Technologies, is described as ten times more autonomous than the first and can run overnight. The report says the company's Dynasoft25 material passed cytotoxicity, irritation and skin sensitisation tests.
The ambition
Medical device classes: target against certification
The project aimed at an environment able to make devices from class I to class III. The ISO 13485 certificate obtained covers manufacturing of class I devices and design of all classes. Bars show the highest class for each.

What the EIC Project Promised, and What CORDIS Shows
The EIC project
The EU paid 60% of a €4.2M project
The Dynamic Molding project ran from May 2023 to October 2025. CORDIS lists it as closed.

The project was to finalise silicone printing, extend it to other materials and set up medical-grade production. The report documents material, biocompatibility and sterilisation validation, the new printer and certification, but the production line was only planned, and certification covers class I manufacture rather than the class III implants in the stated goal. CORDIS lists the project as closed.

The Money
The €10 million round was supported by Elkem, a long-time investor, and the EIC Fund, with the European Investment Bank acting as adviser, and bank partners. We found no published accounts for 3DEUS Dynamics; the French register shows 6 to 9 employees in 2022, according to Pappers. Revenue is not public.

What Cannot Be Checked
Questions for the EIC
How much the EIC Fund invested, whether the medical production line has since been built, how much 3DEUS sells and whether its report was final are not public.
Why Europe Should Care
Patient-specific silicone models and devices could improve surgical planning and cut animal testing, as the MALIC partnership aims to. The EIC backed a French process with both grant and equity. Moving from anatomical models to certified implants is the step not yet taken.
What the project promised
A production environment able to make medical devices from class I to class III implants.
What the record shows
Validated materials, a new printer, class I certification and €10 million raised, with the line still to be built.
The Verdict
Groundwork laid, factory pending
3DEUS Dynamics did the validation and certification work and kept investors on board. The production line at the heart of the EIC project was not built by the time of its report.
