Augmented Industries' EIC Accelerator AI Coaches Factory Workers
Technicians lose time searching files and calling hotlines, Augmented Industries argues. The company, a Munich company founded by two Cambridge engineering PhDs, sells Flow Tool, a platform that turns manuals, instructions, videos and expert knowledge into step-by-step guidance and training for technicians on the shop floor, with an AI assistant for troubleshooting and AI checks of the finished work.
The EIC Accelerator selected the project, FLOW-AI, at its October 2024 cut-off under the challenge for human-centric generative AI made in Europe, as a grant-only award, and CORDIS records €2,410,624.14 from September 2025 to August 2027. The project is to finish a generative-AI microlearning platform and pilot it in more than 15 European factories. In September 2025 the company also raised a €4.5 million pre-seed round.

From Cambridge research to Munich
The platform builds on more than eight years of research at the University of Cambridge and more than three years of technology development, the CORDIS summary says. CEO Elisa Roth and CTO Mirco Roth both completed PhDs at the Institute for Manufacturing in Cambridge, according to the institute's announcement of the funding round. "Current training and knowledge tools don't meet the needs of operators and technicians," Elisa Roth said there.
The company's register entry was not found for this article; its website names Augmented Industries GmbH as the operator.

Flow Tool on the shop floor
Flow Tool captures knowledge, generates training, guides technicians through tasks, answers questions through an AI chat assistant and can verify a task with image and video recognition, according to the company website. It can connect to manufacturing execution and quality systems, so that rising scrap rates trigger retraining. Use cases named by the company include onboarding, machine-specific changeover instructions and AI-assisted quality checks in wind turbine maintenance.
The company names Siemens, Vestas, BMW, ZF and Ford as clients, tech.eu reported, and the Cambridge announcement adds Burger Group and Mehnert as early adopters. Early adopters report up to 29% faster time to productivity, and guide creation is up to eight times faster with AI, the company says; a customer quoted on its website credits Flow Tool with a 62% reduction in training costs. None of these figures comes from an independent study.

FLOW-AI
The EIC project is to finish the generative-AI microlearning platform, reach technology readiness level 8 to 9 by piloting it in more than 15 factories of European manufacturers, and give factory managers data-driven forecasts of efficiency and improvement areas while protecting workers' personal data under EU rules. CORDIS shows no periodic report yet.

Pre-seed money from industry
The €4.5 million round of September 2025 was led by b2venture, with 1st Kind by Peugeot Family, xdeck, DnA Ventures and angel investors from BMW, Siemens and Germany's mid-sized industry. The money is for enterprise-grade AI and for expansion among large manufacturers and industrial service providers in Europe. The company's accounts were not obtained for this article.
Funding

AI that keeps workers in the loop
The EIC chose FLOW-AI under its challenge for human-centric generative AI made in Europe, and the project stresses data protection, transparency and ethical AI for the workers it trains. That matches the EU's Industry 5.0 idea of technology that supports workers rather than replacing them, which the project names in its title.
Verdict
Augmented Industries already has what many EIC companies lack: a product on sale and large industrial clients that it names. Its results come from customers and the company rather than independent studies, and the EIC project's central test, pilots in more than 15 factories, has not reported.
