Treble and the EIC Accelerator: Simulated Sound Finds Buyers

30 September 2026870 words5 min

Treble Technologies, founded in Reykjavik by acoustic engineers Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, simulates how sound travels and sounds in buildings, cars and products. Its EIC project said its "wave-based" method, instead of the usual ray tracing, was "100-1000x faster than current technologies" and would let engineers predict how products sound and let virtual worlds render realistic audio, according to CORDIS.

The European Innovation Council granted €2,500,000 towards a €4.31 million project from January 2023 to June 2024. The final report says Treble built a hybrid wave and geometrical simulation engine with machine learning features, launched its Acoustic Simulation Suite in March 2023 and its Software Development Kit in October 2023, and obtained SOC 2 Type 2 security certification. In September 2024 the EIC Fund joined an €11 million Series A, and in September 2026 it took part again in an $18 million extension led by Paladin Capital. Treble counts Amazon and Logitech as customers, TechCrunch reported.

Where Treble Stands Now

Treble now pitches itself to voice AI. It sells synthetic audio data for training speech enhancement and noise suppression models, tests how voice models perform in different acoustic conditions, and simulates headphones, speakers and smart glasses. Earlier in 2026 it launched a speech recognition benchmark with Hugging Face. Paladin's investor told TechCrunch that the platform's importance will grow as more physical devices use voice. Treble's accounts are filed in Iceland, but its key figures are behind a paywall on the Icelandic register service Keldan.

The record

From building acoustics to voice AI data

Treble launched both products during its EIC project and has since raised two rounds with the EIC Fund, repositioning from acoustic design towards synthetic audio data for voice AI and devices.

The Technology: Solving the Wave Equation

The final report describes a hybrid engine that combines wave-based and geometrical acoustics methods to simulate accurately across a wide range of frequencies, running in the cloud. It also simulates head-related transfer functions, which describe how a listener's head and ears shape sound, for spatial audio. The company's speed claim fell from "100-1000x" in the project summary to "100x" in the final report and its Series A release.

The claims

How much faster Treble says its simulation is

Speed-up over existing methods as stated by the company. The project summary said 100 to 1,000 times; the final report says 100 times.

What the EIC Project Promised, and What CORDIS Shows

The EIC project

The EU paid 58% of a €4.3M project

The project ran from January 2023 to June 2024. CORDIS lists it as closed.

CORDIS project 190141257. Values in € millions.

The project promised continued development of the simulation engine and a cloud platform for simulation and rendering. Both products launched, security certification was achieved, patent applications were filed and 13 public webinars were held. The report gives no customer or revenue numbers. CORDIS lists the project as closed.

The Money

The 2024 Series A was led by KOMPAS VC, a venture firm focused on the built environment, with Frumtak Ventures, the EIC Fund, Omega and the strategic investors Saint-Gobain and L-Acoustics. The 2026 extension was led by Paladin Capital Group with the same existing investors. How much the EIC Fund put in each time has not been disclosed.

The money

Equity rounds with the EIC Fund

In US$ millions as reported by TechCrunch, which put the 2024 round at $12M (announced by Treble as €11M). TechCrunch put total funding at over $40M.

What Cannot Be Checked

Questions for the EIC

How much the EIC Fund invested in each round, Treble's revenue and how many paying customers it has are not public.

Why Europe Should Care

Treble is a European supplier of simulation software to large American technology companies, in a field the EIC funded early. The EIC Fund stayed in through two rounds, and Paladin Capital Group led the latest.

What the project promised

A cloud platform for fast, accurate sound simulation and rendering across industries.

What the record shows

Two products launched, two follow-on rounds with the EIC Fund and named customers including Amazon and Logitech.

The Verdict

Delivered and funded, figures unpublished

According to its final report, Treble built what it promised the EIC. It has attracted repeat investment, and TechCrunch reports Amazon and Logitech as customers. Without published revenue, how far it has scaled cannot be measured.

Treble Technologies and the EIC have not been asked for comment for this article. It is based entirely on public records and published statements, linked throughout.
