YonaLink and the EIC Accelerator: Streaming Hospital Data Into Trials

29 September 2026833 words5 min

In clinical trials, hospital staff copy patient data by hand into sponsors' trial databases, which YonaLink says takes about three minutes per data point. YonaLink, a company in Tel Aviv, built a platform that streams that data automatically from hospitals' electronic health records (EHR) into trial electronic data capture (EDC) systems.

The European Innovation Council granted €2,496,243 towards a €3.57 million project that validated the system in medical centres. In June 2024 YonaLink reported a pilot across 21 medical centres in the US and Israel that transferred 93% of requested data with 100% accuracy, and in October 2025 it added connections to Medidata Rave and Merative's Zelta. Its customer numbers and revenue are not public.

Where YonaLink Stands Today

YonaLink's news page shows steady activity: Hadassah and Rambam medical centres adopted the platform in 2023, it joined the EU-funded AI4LUNGS consortium in 2024, launched an Israel Clinical Trial Network with state support in November 2024, and in October 2025 extended its connections to the Medidata Rave and Zelta trial systems and published an industry benchmark report. It names no pharmaceutical customers.

The pilot

The 2024 multi-centre pilot

Oncology trial pilot in the US and Israel: share of requested patient data transferred automatically, and accuracy of the transferred data. It covered 15 patients at 21 centres.

The Technology: From Patient Record to Trial Database

The pilot involved an oncology trial with 15 patients across 21 sites, transferring observations, medications, diagnoses, procedures and pathology. YonaLink says manual transfer takes about three minutes per data point. Eytan Ben Ami of Sheba Medical Center said in the announcement that "manual data transfer is outdated and leads to significant delays during clinical trials".

What the EIC Project Promised, and What CORDIS Shows

The EIC project

The EU paid 70% of a €3.57M project

YL System ran from September 2022 to February 2025. The award was blended finance.

CORDIS project 190171583. Values in € millions.

The project promised "a pioneer clinical trial management system to automatically collect, review and analyse prospective clinical trial data". The CORDIS report describes validation with four medical centres in the first year, then in-field validation with "data being streamed from a range of MCs" and infrastructure scaled for performance. It gives no counts of trials, records or customers.

What Has Happened Since the Award

The record

From hospital pilots to EDC integrations

YonaLink validated its hospital-record-to-trial-database streaming during the EIC project and has since connected to more trial data systems.

The Money

The award was blended finance, and YonaLink is listed in the EIC Fund portfolio; the amount and date of the EIC Fund investment are not public. YonaLink raised $6 million in November 2022 to scale its growth. No later round has been announced, and Israeli company records were not accessible for this article.

What cannot be checked

Which trial sponsors pay for YonaLink, how many trials use it, its revenue and the amount and date of the EIC Fund investment are not public.

Why Europe Should Care

Faster, automated trial data entry would help sponsors and hospitals running trials in Europe. The EIC project was pitched as proof of readiness for the EU market. So far YonaLink's named sites are in Israel and the US, with EU work through a research consortium.

What the project promised

A system that automatically collects and analyses clinical trial data from hospitals.

What the record shows

A validated platform, a strong 21-centre pilot and major EDC integrations; no named paying customers.

The Verdict

YonaLink says the technology works; the market is unproven in public

YonaLink says its pilot showed that hospital data can flow into trial databases accurately and that it connected to the systems sponsors use. The public record lacks the commercial side: who pays and how much. Its pilot also involved only 15 patients.

YonaLink has not been asked for comment for this article. It is based entirely on company statements and EU project data, linked throughout.
